Week 11 - #2

💡 Spotlight

Two exciting features are now live for everyone: the Template Wizard makes building a custom note template as easy as following a few guided steps - no technical know-how required. And Companion now automatically figures out which assistant to send your question to, so you can just type and get an answer without worrying about @mentions.

✨ New Features
  • New Template Wizard (Templates > Create Template): a new step-by-step wizard guides you through creating a custom template - pick from the Template Library, upload a PDF of a template you already use, or build one from scratch. The wizard walks you through each decision so you end up with a template that matches how you write, no prior setup experience needed.
  • Companion routes to the right assistant automatically (Companion panel): you no longer need to type @summi, @quill, or @sage before asking a question. Just type and Companion figures out which expert to send it to. You can still @mention a specific assistant if you want to direct the question yourself.
  • See exactly what changed when Companion or Writing Assistant edits your notes (Note Editor): when Companion or Writing Assistant suggests a change to a note section, added words are highlighted in green and removed words in red, so you can see the exact difference before deciding to accept or reject.
  • Unmark as Done (Note Editor): when viewing a completed note, you can now click "Unmark as Done" to send it back to the Review section of your Inbox for further editing - useful when a note was marked done too early or needs corrections before exporting to your PIMS.
🐛 Bug Fixes
  • PDF upload not working in the template editor: Uploading a PDF to extract content in the classic template builder was failing with an error, particularly on Windows. PDF uploads now work correctly in both the template editor and the onboarding template setup step.
  • PDF files failed to attach to notes: PDF files can now be attached to notes - previously only image files were accepted and PDFs would fail with an upload error.

About Scribenote's Weekly Changelog

Scribenauts work really hard to bring you delightful, easy to use software that helps you slay your day as a busy veterinary professional. This is a continuous process that involves everything from building industry changing new innovations to fixing minor bugs. We’ve been doing this since the first line of code for Scribenote was written on December 27, 2019. We’ve historically been pretty bad at sharing the details of all this work, but one of our our resolutions for 2026 is to share our progress with the veterinary community every week. We hope that by seeing the craft that goes into making Scribenote you might feel a little closer to the people who are trying to make something special for you.
